Pay attention to supplementary information for the following components:
The compressor in a S2125/F2120/F2040 is inverter-controlled. The compressor’s power is adjusted based on the demand and routed to heating, hot water or cooling.
SMO 20 is supplied with a heating control system, which means that the heating supply to the house takes place according to selected settings. When connecting to a system with thermostats on all radiators (or underfloor heating coils), either a bypass valve must be fitted or some of the thermostats must be removed to ensure there is sufficient flow. For more information about heat production, see the Installer Manual.
If hot water heating is required, an external water heater/accumulator tank is docked.
When there is demand for hot water, SMO 20 prioritises this and switches to hot water mode. There is no heat production in this mode.
If the hot water temperature exceeds 60 °C, the installation must be supplemented with a mixing valve.

An external heating medium pump can be connected to SMO 20 via the AUX output.
If there is a large pressure drop over the brine side, an external brine pump may be required.
The system should be supplemented with an extra water heater, if a large bath tub or other significant consumer of hot water is installed.
Cooling and heating are distributed via the same climate system.
When there is a risk of condensation, components and climate systems must be insulated against condensation in accordance with current standards and provisions.
Via AUX, separate cooling and heating systems can be connected via a reversing valve. The cooling system is connected after the heat pump. When cooling is required (activated from the outdoor temperature sensor AA35-BT1 and room sensor AA35-BT50, where applicable), the shunt valve EQ1-QN12 and the circulation pump AA35-GP12 are activated.

Cooling in a 4-pipe system cannot be combined with hot water circulation as SMO 20 only has one AUX output.
Additional heat that is connected directly to SMO 20. The additional heat is used for heat production.

This function enables step-controlled additional heat to help with heating/hot water production.
With SMO 20, three relays can be used for additional heat control, which then gives max. 3 linear or 7 binary steps.
The flow through the additional heat is ensured by the charge pump (GP12).

Used to produce hot water at the same time as the heat pump prioritises other demands.
An immersion heater in a tank can also be used if a higher hot water temperature is required than can be produced by the heat pump.
This function enables district heating additional heat to assist with heating.
A 3-pipe-connected buffer vessel is used when the system volume in the climate system is below the minimum recommended volume for the heat pump and/or the flow in the heating system is restricted without control.

A circulation pump can be controlled by SMO 20 via the AUX output, to circulate the hot water. The circulating water must have a temperature that prevents bacterial growth and scalding, and national standards must be met. See the appropriate Installer Manual for more information. Hot water circulation cannot be combined with cooling in a 4-pipe system because SMO 20 only has one AUX output.
