Protective and safety equipment as well as components that facilitate servicing (e.g. non-return valves, safety valves, bypass valves, shut-off valves) must be installed in accordance with national regulations and standards. The compressor in a S2125/F2120/F2050 is inverter-controlled. The compressor’s power is adjusted according to the demand and it is routed to heating, hot water, cooling or pool heating.
The compressor in a F2300 is an on/off type. The compressor’s full power is routed to heating, hot water or pool heating.
In the case of multiple heat pumps, they are stepped in one-by-one as required.
SMO 40 is equipped with a heating control system, which means that the heating supply to the property takes place according to selected settings. For more information about heat production, see the Installer Manual.
If hot water heating is required, one or more external water heaters/accumulator tanks are docked.
Hot water production is from the heat pump(s) that are set to produce hot water.
If the hot water temperature exceeds 60 °C, the installation must be supplemented with a mixing valve.

An external heating medium pump can be connected via an AUX output in SMO 40. If the AUX output is being used for any other function, the heating medium pump can instead be connected via the AXC module. The heating medium pump can be connected via the following functions:

An external brine pump can be connected via an AUX output in SMO 40. If the AUX output is being used for any other function, the brine pump can instead be connected via the AXC module. The brine pump can be connected via the following functions:

For enhanced hot water.
The system should be supplemented with an extra water heater, if a large bath tub or other significant consumer of hot water is installed.
Ventilation recovery means that the heat from the exhaust air is utilised and supplied to the installation.
This function requires the accessory F135. F135 is an exhaust air module that is controlled by SMO 40. F135 recovers energy from the ventilation air and supplies it to the property.

This connection enables the use of ground water as heat source. The ground water is pumped up to an intermediate heat exchanger. An intermediate heat exchanger is used to protect the heat pump's exchanger from dirt and freezing. The water is released into a buried filtration unit or a drilled well.
The ground water pump runs at the same time as the brine pump.
Cooling and heating are distributed via the same climate system.
When there is a risk of condensation, components and climate systems must be insulated against condensation in accordance with current standards and provisions, or the min. supply temperature must be limited.
With the accessory AXC 30, separate cooling and heating systems can be connected via a reversing valve. The cooling system is connected after the heat pump. When cooling is required (activated from the outdoor temperature sensor AA35-BT1 and room sensor AA35-BT50, where applicable), the shunt valve EQ1-QN12 and the circulation pump AA35-GP12 are activated.

With SMO 40, three relays can be used for additional heat control, which then gives max. 3 linear or 7 binary steps.
The flow through the additional heat is ensured by the charge pump (GP12).

Used to produce hot water at the same time as the heat pump(s) prioritises other demands.
An immersion heater in a tank can also be used if a higher hot water temperature is required than can be produced by a heat pump.
SMO 40 can, via a control signal, control additional heat, which can also be prioritised.

This function enables district heating additional heat to assist with heating.
This function allows additional district heating to assist with the heating as shunt-controlled additional heat.
The AXC module AA25, external circulation pump GP10 and the sensors BT52, BT25 and BT71 are enclosed and are installed in the district heating module. The sensors BT25 and BT71 are connected to SMO 40.
The trim valve RN1 is used to regulate the flow over the heat pump and the district heating unit, and to avoid a high district heating return. Ensure the defrosting flow according to the Installer Manual.
This function enables district heating additional heat to produce both heat and hot water, including hot water circulation.
The AXC module AA25, external circulation pump GP10 and the sensors BT52, BT25 and BT71 are enclosed and are installed in the district heating module. The sensors BT25 and BT71 are connected to SMO 40.
The trim valve RN1 is used to regulate the flow over the heat pump and the district heating unit, and to avoid a high district heating return. Ensure the defrosting flow according to the Installer Manual.
An electric heater can be activated by the AUX output when the compressor is stopped by a low outdoor temperature. Max. recommended power is 4.5 kW.

This connection makes it possible to control a shunt valve that regulates the incoming brine temperature.
The heat pump controls a shunt valve (QN41) to limit the maximum incoming brine temperature via temperature sensor (BT26). If the sensor registers a value above the maximum set temperature, the shunt valve is closed to reduce the mix of incoming brine.
The function is only active when the accessory NIBE AXC 30 is activated and when a compressor in the system is running.
A 2-pipe, parallel-connected buffer vessel is used for high-temperature and/or low-flow systems. This connection principle requires a continuous flow over the external supply temperature sensor (BT25) and it is used as a buffer for the heat pump (volume expansion) and as a buffer for the climate system (for large, temporary power outputs such as defrosting and fan coil, etc.).
